Bomb Threat Investigation at Boonton High School

March 27, 2008: Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, Esq., Deputy Chief William Schievella, and Boonton Chief of Police Michael Beltran announce the investigation into a bomb threat at the Boonton High School.

On March 27, 2008 at approximately 12:30 pm, the Town of Boonton Police Department received a call from officials at the Boonton High School reporting a written bomb threat in the school. The investigation, conducted by the Town of Boonton Police Department, Morris County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad, Morris County Sheriff's Office CIS and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Weapons of Mass Destruction Assessment Team revealed that a teacher found a message hand written on a desk in the science lab that read "Gonna bomb the school on 4/4".

The building was searched by the school employees with the assistance of the Morris County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Weapons of Mass Destruction Assessment Team and nothing was located.

Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, Esq. stated "Additional investigative steps are being taken to ensure the safety of the students. This threat is deemed to be low. We are however encouraging school officials, students and parents to be vigilant and report anything suspicious to school officials and law enforcement".
