Investigation & Arrest in Connection with Bank Robbery in Morristown

March 18, 2008: Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, Esq., Roxbury Township Chief of Police Mark Noll and Morristown Bureau of Police Chief Peter Demnitz announce the investigation and arrest in connection with a bank robbery which occurred at the Commerce Savings Bank located on South Street, Morristown, New Jersey on March 6, 2008.

At approximately 4:50 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2008, the actor, described as a Hispanic male in his early 20’s, approximately 5'02" to 5'06", entered the Commerce Bank and passed a note to the teller demanding money. No weapon was displayed however the suspect indicated that he possessed one. The actor then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

At 3:20 pm on March 17, 2008, Roxbury Sgt. Marc Palanchi stopped a 1990 Buick bearing N.Y. registration on Berkshire Valley Road in Roxbury Township. The driver was a man identified as Yousef Iguenaran aka Yousef Iguenara, Youssef Iguenaran, and Karim Iguinarana.

A computer inquiry showed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in New York. Sgt. Palanchi arrested the defendant for possession of a stolen vehicle.

A search of the defendant's person revealed a note that is alleged to be the same type of note that was presented to the bank teller during the Morristown robbery on March 6, 2008.

Sgt. Palanchi viewed the defendant on March 17, 2008 after his arrest and also viewed video surveillance and still photos taken during the Commerce Bank robbery in Morristown.

It was the opinion of Sgt. Palanchi the defendant is the man depicted in the video surveillance and still photos of the Morristown robbery.

The suspect was transported to the Rockaway Township Police Department. The suspect was identified as:

Yousif Iguenarane
DOB 10-14-85
Kenvil Hotel Room #23
Kenvil, New Jersey

Charges:
Armed Robbery (1st Degree)
Possession of Stolen Property (3rd Degree)

The defendant was remanded in lieu of $500,000 cash, bond or property which was set by Superior Court Judge Salem Vincent Ahto, JSC.

The investigation is ongoing in cooperation with the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Morris County Sheriff's Office, Morristown Police Department, Roxbury Township Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Despite these pending charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt following a jury trial at which the defendant has all of his rights guaranteed by the U.S. and New Jersey Constitutions and relevant state law.
