Pequannock Attempted Sexual Assault Case
September 12, 2007: Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, Esq., and Chief Brian Spring of the Pequannock Township Police Department will be holding a press conference this afternoon at 2 pm in the Freeholder's Main Conference Room on the 5th Floor to address an incident that occurred during the early morning hours at approximately 3:00 am on September 10, 2007 at a home on Kinney Place in Pompton Plains / Pequannock Township, New Jersey. They are seeking the community's assistance in locating the actor who broke into the home and gained entry to the residence through a first floor window.
Specifically, a screen leading to a bedroom had been cut with a sharp instrument at the bottom corners of the screen, allowing the actor to manipulate the spring hinge on the bottom of the screen.
A preliminary investigation shows that an attempted sexual assault of a five year old female occurred during the break in. The victim was not injured, as the actor was interrupted by a family member who entered the room.
The perpetrator is described as a white male who is possibly a smoker. Further details of the actor will be presented at the press conference.
A massive investigation is underway by the Morris County Prosecutor's Office and the Pequannock Township Police Department. Forensic evidence has been secured and was submitted to the State Police Lab for testing.
