Morris County Court Clerk Arrested for Cocaine Possession
February 28, 2008: Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi, Esq., and Morristown Bureau of Police Chief Peter Demnitz announce the arrest of John Kelly, age 48, of Morristown, New Jersey on one count of Third Degree Possession of Cocaine. John Kelly is employed as a Clerk by the State of New Jersey Superior Court and is assigned to the Morris County Court House.
On Wednesday February 27, 2008 an undercover investigation was conducted by the Morristown Bureau of Police and the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. At approximately 4:54 pm John Kelly was taken into custody after he left the Morris County Court House and walked to a nearby Washington Street location where he was engaged in the acquisition of cocaine.
John Kelly was transported to the Morristown Police Department where he was processed, served with a criminal complaint and released pending his next court appearance.
Despite these pending charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt following a jury trial at which the defendant has all of his rights guaranteed by the U.S. and New Jersey Constitutions and relevant state law.
