William Schievella currently serves as the Chief of Investigations for the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the chief law enforcement agency for the suburban county with 39 municipalities and a population of 450,000. He commands all of the sworn prosecutors, detectives and agents. He also is responsible for the planning, directing, coordinating and controlling of all activities of the investigative staff and oversees the daily operations of tactical and investigative units.
William Schievella was a New Jersey State Parole Sergeant and also served as the task force coordinator for the New Jersey State Parole Homeland Security Task Force. William Schievella received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice cum laude from Caldwell College. He also holds a Masters Degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Post Masters Certification in Global Terrorism from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He has also completed the Mobile Intensive Care Paramedic Program at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. He is a graduate of the prestigious West Point Command & Leadership Program and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Program at Princeton University.
In addition to being an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, he serves as a certified police instructor at several police training facilities in New Jersey. William Schievella is involved in a number of professional organizations. He serves on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Narcotics Enforcement Officers Association and is a member of the National Criminal Justice Honor Society, the Morris County Detectives Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Morris County Police Chiefs Association, the International Counter Terrorism Officers Association, the New Jersey Association of Chiefs of County Detectives and the New Jersey Police Honor Legion. He is a founding trustee of the West Point Command & Leadership Alumni Association and the founder and current president of the Italian American Police Society of New Jersey. Schievella is also a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Association.
Chief Schievella has been the recipient of many honors and distinctions from various professional and civic groups. Chief Schievella was the 2007 Guard Marshal of the Morris County Columbus Day Parade and was the 2005 Humanitarian of the Year of the Columbus Day Parade of New Jersey. Chief Schievella was honored by the New York City Police Department Honor Legion and The New York Police Department Detectives Endowment Association. Chief Schievella was also honored by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police Columbia Association with the Chief James Romito Award in 2007 and by the New York/New Jersey Asian American Law Enforcement Advisory Committee with its 2008 Community Service Award. Chief Schievella was also honored by the New Jersey Association of Women in Law Enforcement at their Annual Conference. Chief Schievella is also the recipient of various Heroism and Valor Awards and has been recognized by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark for his work on the Blue Mass Committee. Chief Schievella was also honored by the Patriots Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
