Intelligence Crime Task Force (ICTF)
  • PURPOSE: Combat violent crime, in particular: gang, drug and gun-related violence as well as the illegal possession and use of firearms.
  • APPROACH: Employ an intelligence-led, data-driven policing strategy that utilizes local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. These agencies will sanction the rapid response and redeployment of forces responding to and targeting gang, gun and drug violence.
  • FOCUS: Strategic investigations of identified criminal gangs, violent gang members and those criminals who have the greatest impact within Morris County.
  • OBJECTIVES:
    • Collect critical data. Analyze and disseminate information to assist municipal agencies in identifying suspects, criminal organizations, methods of operation, and patterns of criminal activity.
    • Focus on Morris County:
      • Develop sources of information to assist in targeting criminal activity.
      • Identify street gang members and associates living, working and frequenting our communities.
      • Develop strategies to infiltrate and annihilate organized criminal activity.
      • Train police recruits and municipal law enforcement officials on the identification, awareness and current trends associated with criminal street gangs.
      • Partner with our Special Enforcement Unit because of the overlap of gang and gun violence with the illegal distribution of narcotics.
      • Coordinate with our Community Outreach Unit to provide educational programs about criminal street gangs for students, teachers, and other community groups.
      • Conduct meetings with School Resource, Juvenile, Gang Liaison, and Morris County Juvenile Probation Officers, plus staff from the Morris County Juvenile Detention Center, to discuss juvenile gang and violent crime activity.
      • Assist local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies with investigations of criminal street gang activity.
      • Coordinate information sharing among local, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies, helping to synchronize efforts to combat violent crime.
      • Coordinate investigations that involve gang, drug and gun-related violence as well as the illegal possession and use of firearms; including but not limited to those criminals who have the greatest impact within Morris County.
  • ORGANIZATION: Structure according to New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine's Strategy for Safe Streets and Neighborhoods, consistent with the Attorney General's direction.
